Delete your Portl account
This page explains how to delete your Portl account and associated data. Portl is the society gate and community app listed on Google Play as Portl (in.portl.android).
How to request account deletion
Portl does not delete accounts from inside the app. Leaving a society (Settings → Leave this society) only ends that membership. Gate records stay with the society.
- Email outreach@bsoc.space from the same Google email or phone number you use to sign in.
- Use the subject line: Portl account deletion request.
- Include your full name, society name (if known), and the email and/or phone on your Portl account.
We will confirm the request and complete deletion within 30 days, except where retention is required below.
Data that is deleted
- Your Portl account / login identifiers (Google email linkage, phone used for OTP, display name)
- Push notification tokens for your devices
- Your memberships in societies (access to that society’s app data ends)
- Profile and household links tied only to your user id, where not needed for other residents’ records
Data that may be kept
- Operational gate records (visitor logs, approvals, entry/exit) may be retained by the society for security and dispute history; personal identifiers may be anonymized where feasible
- Payment / dues references (Razorpay order or payment ids) may be kept for accounting, chargebacks, and legal obligations
- Server logs for a limited period for security and abuse prevention
- Data we must keep under applicable law
Retention after deletion
Unless a longer legal hold applies, residual anonymized or legally required records are not used to identify you in the app. Payment and audit artifacts may be retained up to 7 years where financial or legal rules require it.
